So, you want to go online? What will you need?
Webmail - You can log into your webmail accounts here (This only applies to the Webcessity Server, for access to other accounts please contact us)
Domain Name - This is the address (URL) of your webpage. Try and choose a name related to your business or related to what you do. This will help with your search engine rankings (an example of a desciptive domain name is - armidalewebdesign.com).
Hosting Plan - This is where your website will be stored. The plan for your hosting is based on the amount of space you require to store your website, the amount of traffic your website receives and the number of email addresses you will require. Keep these key elements in mind when choosing your plan.
Website - There is not much point having all this space on the web if you have nothing to put up there! This step is definitely the most important, and there are quite a few factors to consider. Have a look through our guide below to help with your initial website ideas.
What is your website for? Is it for marketing and advertising, in depth detail on your product or service, a portal for selling your product or service online? Consider this carefully, as the whole website design is likely to focus around this particular point. Also be careful to realise that websites are becoming more and more commonly the first port of call when looking for information on a product or service. There is no point in having a website for the sake of having a website, it is there to serve a purpose. A lack of purpose can in fact act as a deterrant, as a lack of information can leave the end user frustrated.
Photos! Photos! Photos! There is no point having the most beautiful and sophisticated website design if it is only to be put together with sloppy or low-grade photos of your service or product. If you don't want to splash out on a professional photographer, splash out on some stock images instead. It's a lot cheaper, but can give you the same effect. Try sites such as StockXchnge or iStockphoto for inspiration. They have thousands of photos to be purchased from, all great quality, and all designed to add a touch of style to your website.
